Review: X-Men 3: The Last Stand (Dir. Brett Ratner, 2006).


X-Men 3 isn't the total wash out that people often claim but it is a bit of a dull disappointment & a mess of missed opportunities. I'm all for killing characters off but it's got to be worthwhile. Same for adding them, it can't just be to please fans or a quick gag. Seemingly spending the first half of the film turning the audience against Professor X is madness though. The hair & costumes are worse too. Still, some great returning performances and some nice additions too, especially Ellen Page as Shadowcat and Frasier as Beast. Ben Foster is potentially good as Angel but barely has a chance to show it. However, it's still not the bottom of the barrel yet, I've got to watch X-Men Origins: Wolverine next...
